Akon bridges the Summer-to-Fall transition with a show on this Saturday.
Akon (Aug. 31) is a Senegalese-American singer-songwriter, producer, businessman, and philanthropist. He rose to fame 2004 following the release of his debut single “Locked Up.” He quickly worked with some of the best in business, featuring Snoop Dogg and Eminem on his 2006 follow-up, Konvicted.
Brad Paisley (Sept. 7) has earned his place in country music history as one of the genre’s most talented and decorated male solo artists. Over the past 20 years, his songwriting and unmatched showmanship have won him numerous awards.
A member of the Grand Ole Opry since 2001, Paisley has written 21 of his 24 No. 1 hits, and in 2008 became the first artist to achieve 10 consecutive Billboard Country Airplay No. 1 singles. The 2010 CMA Entertainer of the Year’s past works have amassed over 3.9 billion on-demand streams. Paisley continues to collaborate with Peyton Manning in a multi-year ad campaign with Nationwide insurance. A prolific entertainer, Paisley’s first prime-time special, “Brad Paisley Thinks He’s Special,” aired on ABC in December 2019 and has garnered over 18.1 million viewers to date.
Now perhaps better known for his television and film roles in Friday, Three Kings, and 21 JumpStreet, Ice Cube (Sept. 14) is an American rapper, songwriter, actor, and film producer. A founding member of N.W.A., he was the lead rapper and main on its official debut Straight Outta Compton. He left the group in 1990 and released his debut solo album, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted.
The legendary Three Dog Night (Sept. 20) had 21 Billboard Top 40 Hits between 1969 and 1975, and you definitely know all the words to “Joy To The World.” The band was know for working with some of the best (and at-the-time undiscovered) songwriters of that era including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams, and Hoyt Axton.
While the Brothers Gallagher are getting all headlines about the Oasis right now, the Robinson Brothers in the The Black Crowes (Sept. 28) are also putting out new music after a 15-years hiatus. Known for hits in the ‘90s like “Hard to Handle,” and “She Talks to Angels” the band reunited for a 30th anniversary of their debut album in 2020. In March 2024 they released, Happiness Bastards, an album of all new music.
